Depth and variation describe John Merchant's nearly 30 years of public finance practice. Across the country, Mr. Merchant has participated in healthcare, economic development and traditional issue transactions, as bond and underwriter's counsel, for the issuance of obligations including bonds, notes and leases.

Mr. Merchant has worked on many traditional issue financings related to schools, transportation, water and sewer projects, including new money transactions and advance and current refundings. These financings have included features such as subordinated and taxable debt.

As bond and underwriter's counsel for healthcare & other 501(c)(3) transactions, he has experience with bond financings involving master trust indenture structures as well as leasing and private placement structures for non-profit and governmental entities.

Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Merchant participated in public finance transactions in various positions with the Commonwealth of Kentucky.
