Senior Attorney, The Kroger Company

Position Summary:
Seasoned attorney with experience in the following substantive areas: mergers and acquisitions; commercial relationships; equity investments; corporate financing; and general commercial contracts and strategic transactions. Work directly with internal clients to structure, draft and negotiate contracts; collaborate with capital management and treasury teams. Interact with and advise senior management in areas of responsibility. Work on resolution of contract disputes, risk analysis, regulatory compliance, prepare and revise standard forms of agreements, and training internal clients on legal issues. Must have excellent writing skills and must be capable of handling most matters with a minimum of supervision. Demonstrate the company’s core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion and safety.

Essential Job Functions:
Ensure that the company complies with all applicable laws, rules and regulations within the associate’s areas of responsibility
Keep supervisor informed of all material legal matters affecting the company
Review, draft and negotiate legal agreements and other legal documents
Advise the company concerning legal rights and obligations
Must be able to perform the essential functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodation
Minimum Position / Education Qualifications:
10+ years of experience in the area(s) of current practice
Experience in the following substantive areas: mergers and acquisitions, commercial relationships, equity investments, corporate financing, and general commercial contracts and strategic transactions
Must be admitted to the practice of law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
Excellent oral and written and communication skills as well as excellent writing skills
Excellent practical and creative problem-solving skills.
Excellent business judgment
Capability of handling most matters with a minimum of supervision
Ability to advise clients in a manner that demonstrates an understanding of the business objectives and risk/reward analysis
Ability to handle multiple projects efficiently and to deal effectively with clients
